About Proleta Re Art
Being the Chief of the Kapital Kountry Design Team for 10 Years; why leave KAPITAL?
Prot’s beginnings started at a Japanese art college where he discovered his love for creating art by hand. His most distinguished role was at Japanese denim powerhouse, KAPITAL. As he rose through the ranks, his talent reached a ceiling in the corporate work environment. He was limited to design that focused on reproducibility and mass manufacturing. His true passion was to create unique pieces of art - by hand, not machine. This was not something a company as big as Kapital could offer him so he reluctantly resigned from his initial, lifelong commitment to Kapital. He and his wife opened up their own small shop in Tokyo shortly after the fallout. When we heard about their leap of faith, we joined them and commissioned several pieces early on. Today, Proletareart is quickly becoming a household name and setting a new standard in quality for an industry plagued by pursuit of profit.
Message from Prot:
"SINCE EVERYTHING IS HANDMADE BY ME, I HOPE TO CREATE INTRICATE AND DETAILED ONE-OF-A-KIND ITEMS THAT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITH KAPITAL'S MASS PRODUCTION. I HOPE THAT THIS WILL BE ENOUGH FOR MY WIFE AND I TO BE ABLE TO LIVE OFF OF.
I AM 34 YEARS OLD NOW, AND MY HEALTH COMES FIRST. I HAVE RECENTLY COME TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO KEEP IN MIND IN ORDER TO CONTINUE MAKING THINGS”
All of PROLETA RE ART's jeans are upcycled works of art - they're distressed, repaired, embroidered and sewn entirely by hand. This straight-fit pair from his early works (No.29) was crafted in Japan in a patchwork style inspired by traditional boro techniques. Due to the unique nature of the vintage fabrics and processing, every pair is incredibly special.
